Advising Appointment With Jodi

Hi! I’m Jodi White and I’m an academic advisor and faculty in the Highline College Education Department. I advise for both the AAS and BAS in Early Childhood Education.

Please note that all faculty are off contract (including me!) and unavailable between quarters, August 18 - September 26. During this time, please visit the Advising Center for assistance.

I am currently booking for fall quarter.

Getting Started

Having trouble getting started? Too many steps and you’re not sure what to do? Highline College now has Entry Advisors to help you! You can find them in Building 6 (Upper Lobby), or contact them at entryadvising@highline.edu or 206-592-3620.

Resources

  • Do you need help figuring out online and virtual learning? Help with technology? Check out remote resources.
  • Need support with emergency cash, housing resources, food access, college financial navigation? Check out the Benefits Hub.

What about tuition?

If you are interested in the Early Achiever’s Grant, Jeremy Wilde is the point of contact. Complete the funding orientation through Workforce Education Services (WES). These are online (top right of the page). WES has other types of funding as well and I recommend them as your first stop.

Who should you see for academic advising?

“Advisors” are people that you meet with to answer your questions and help you make a plan to achieve your goal.

Depending on you and your interests, I may not be the best person for you to meet with.

*Are you just getting started in your program? All students who have under 30 credits should see a Pathways Advisor. Once you’ve completed 30 credits, you can request to be assigned to a faculty advisor. To request one, just complete this form. You’ll be matched to someone based on your interest in Education.

*Are you interested in working at a public school? Kindergarten and up? I do not advise for the Elementary Education program.

For information about the AAS in Paraeducation (which can lead to the BAS in Elementary Ed) contact Patricia McDonald.

If you already have your AA/S and want the BAS in Elementary Education contact John Pizarro.

*Are you interested in a certificate or degree in Early Childhood Education? Do you have over 30 credits? If you answered ‘yes’ to both of these questions then I can help!

Not sure? take a look at our programs.

My Student Hours

You are most welcome to come any time during my scheduled student hours. Some days I allow appointments and you can schedule one here.

Where?

On campus or in my Zoom Office. If you choose on-campus I’m in building 29, room 241. Park in the south lot off S 240th St and be prepared to pay for parking. I take walk-in visits in order of arrival, around any scheduled appointments. If you have an appointment, it guarantees your spot. Click below to make an appointment.

Please note that I’m following the covid rates in our community to decide if I’m going to wear a mask. If you want to meet in person and would prefer that I wear a mask, please let me know. Likewise, if you’re showing any symptoms of being ill, please reschedule to meet me on Zoom.
