Hi! I'm Jodi White and I'm an academic advisor and faculty in the Highline College Education Department. I advise for both the AAS and BAS in Early Childhood Education.
Please note that **all faculty are off contract** (including me!) during calendar breaks for the college. During these times please visit the [Advising Center](https://advising.highline.edu?useTarget=_blank) for assistance.

**Getting Started**
Having trouble [getting started](https://docs.google.com/document/d/12YF_MBxnzKHFgl1W1pxbdV4tF5JI8Pbu/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=116827598192820618999&rtpof=true&sd=true?useTarget=_blank)? Too many steps and you're not sure what to do? Highline College now has **Entry Advisors to help you!** You can find them in Building 6 (Upper Lobby), or contact them at entryadvising@highline.edu or 206-592-3620.

**Resources**
* Do you need help figuring out online and virtual learning? Help with technology? Check out [remote resources](https://www.highline.edu/covid19/resources-for-students/).
* Need support with emergency cash, housing resources, food access, college financial navigation? Check out the [Benefits Hub](https://supportcenter.highline.edu/benefits-hub/).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**What about tuition?**
If you are interested in the **Early Achiever's** Grant, [Jeremy Wilde](https://directory.highline.edu/?person=jwilde) is the point of contact. Complete the funding orientation through Workforce Education Services (WES). These are [online](https://workforce.highline.edu/index.php) (top right of the page). WES has other types of funding as well and I recommend them as your first stop.

**Who should you see for academic advising?**
"Advisors" are people that you meet with to answer your questions and help you make a plan to achieve your goal.
*Depending on you and your interests, I may not be the best person for you to meet with.*
****Are you just getting started in your program?*** All students who have under 30 credits should see a [Pathways Advisor](https://advising.highline.edu/#:~:text=Academic%20Pathway%20Advisors%20in%20the,introduced%20in%20New%20Student%20Orientation). Once you've completed 30 credits, you can request to be assigned to a faculty advisor. To request one, just complete this [form](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe7kGVNWvhH0Ei737aBgLlEEttONT31nK2rG0MCvRKsmRv23A/viewform). You'll be matched to someone based on your interest in Education.
****Are you interested in working at a public school?*** Kindergarten and up? *I do not advise for the Elementary Education program.*
For information about the **AAS in Paraeducation** (which can lead to the BAS in Elementary Ed) contact [Patricia McDonald.](https://directory.highline.edu/?person=PMCDONALD?useTarget=_blank)
If you already have your AA/S and want the **BAS in Elementary Education** contact [John Pizarro](https://directory.highline.edu/?person=jpizarro?useTarget=_blank).
****Are you interested in a certificate or degree in **Early Childhood Education*****? Do you have over 30 credits? If you answered 'yes' to both of these questions then I can help!
Not sure? take a look at [our programs.](https://education.highline.edu/programs/)
